Home testing kits available for collection from school

I am please to inform parents that our school now has a small supply of home testing kits available. All schools in Northern Ireland will receive a small supply of them. If you need a COVID-19 Home Test and you are unable to access a test at a testing site please contact Mrs Taylor. School will not administer the test however we can distribute the test kit to a parent.

It is important to note that these are home test kits will only be offered to individuals in the circumstance that an individual may have barriers to accessing testing elsewhere. The default, best and fastest way for children, young people, or staff to access a test is to visit a testing site.

The rationale of providing the kits to schools is to ensure that a symptomatic member of staff or child who doesn’t have transport, and isn’t able to travel to one of the drive through testing sites can receive a COVID-19 test.

School staff will not administer the test, we will only distribute the test kit to a parent or member of staff who meets the requirement for one. Each kit contains instructions for the individual and a post-it envelope. These kits are the same as those you can buy or order online and use of them expedites the test process.

Storing of the test kits in school poses no danger as tests will not be administered in schools. When a test kit is sent/given to a parent/carer/staff member, it is the responsibility of the parent/carer/staff member to administer and register the test. Details of how to do this are included with the test kit. Completed tests must not take place on the school site and should not be returned to the school.

If you need further information please contact myself on the school telephone number or email [email protected].

Yours faithfully,

Mrs K Taylor
