The first school trip of the year for Miss Anderson’s class today and what a brilliant day we had. A perfect autumnal morning! Petra from the Forestry Service guided us around Mountsandel forest, teaching us about deciduous and evergreen trees and how to recognise them. As part of our Stone Age topic we also explored what life would have been like for the first settlers as they would’ve hunted and gathered and made shelter. We found seeds, we carved sticks into spears and tools. We also climbed up to the fort where the first settlers would have lived and enjoyed our lunch in the glorious sunshine! To quote a few of the children “this was the best day ever!” We will all sleep well tonight!
