P5/6SA have been out in our polytunnel planting potatoes which should be ready when they come back after the summer holidays! They worked hard to prepare the ground first and were happy to get their hands dirty!
We are growing our own potatoes from ‘seed potatoes’, which are small potato tubers rather than actual seeds. Before planting, you have to ‘chit’ your potatoes. This involves letting the potatoes grow shoots, which will give you a bigger potato crop. It is important that we water the potatoes regularly, especially during warm, dry spells, and keep the soil weed free. We can't wait to see these develop!
